Landscape
Prints The landscapes
are Lambda prints mounted on aluminum. Unless
otherwise stated the edition for each landscape is 10 large prints and 10
small prints Landscape
Prints A personal
description of the process of making I would
describe the process of making these pictures as re imaginings of landscapes.
There is a photographic inspiration, but the finished landscapes are
radically altered from the original image, elements are added and taken away,
colors and mood created and enriched. Much like a painting from a photograph. The image
is a drawing that is done on the computer using a mouse as the pen. I am
often asked if the image is a manipulation of a photograph, it is not. It is
also not a photograph of a painting. The process of using the mouse as pen is
extremely basic, there are no effects used. Initially
the image is a line drawing in black, I then add the colors and afterwards
delete all the lines so that it ends up as blocks or fields of smooth colors,
no gradients. The colors are all mixed by eye, not chosen from a photograph
or generated. The whole process is actually very similar to that of making a
painting. A practice that I am primarily involved with. The
drawing is done in a vector drawing program which means that there is no
pixels or pixilation and the colors end up super flat and vibrant. This is
enhanced by the use of the lambda printing process that works exceptionally
well in printing flat color. Vector images can be scaled up infinitely
without losing resolution of clarity or color. Peter
